Cancellation certificate is a registration document issued to register the termination of ID card in case of death of any citizen. Any blood relative possessing a valid NIC/NICOP, death certificate from union council and the graveyard certificate of the deceased family member, can apply for the cancellation. The original ID card of the deceased is destroyed at NRC to ensure that it cannot be misused. The applicant is required to visit any NADRA Registration Center (NRC) to apply for cancellation certificate.

Cancellation of ID card for the following is available online:

Cancellation due to Death (CNIC/CRC/NICOP/POC),

Cancellation of (CNIC/CRC/NICOP/POC) due to death of a Pakistani Citizen/Ex-Pakistani may be applied in this category by the immediate family members (parent/sibling/children/spouse).

Cancellation due to Surrender of Pakistani Nationality (CNIC/NICOP/CRC), A Citizen of Pakistan who has formally renounced/surrendered Pakistani nationality by acquiring nationality of a foreign country or acquired nationality of a foreign country (having valid foreign passport) that doesn’t permit dual nationality can apply for cancellation under this category.

Cancellation due to Dual National Agreement or Resuming Pakistani Nationality (POC), An ex-Pakistani who previously obtained POC after formally renounced/surrendered Pakistani nationality and acquired nationality of a foreign country (having valid foreign passport) that permit dual nationality can apply for cancellation of POC if Federal Govt announced dual nationality agreement with that country or applicant reacquired Pakistani nationality may also apply for cancellation of POC

Cancellation due to Divorced (POC Foreign Spouse only), Pakistani Spouse can apply for cancellation of POC of his/her ex-spouse (foreigner) after divorce.

Cancellation due to holding 2 or more ID cards (DUP status), citizen need to visit nearest NADRA Offices (inland and abroad NADRA Offices) or they can approach us at [email protected] (for overseas Pakistanis).

How can I apply for Cancellation Certificate?

You can apply for your Cancellation Certificate (CC) by visiting any NADRA Registration Center (NRC).
Following are the steps which you will be following at the NRC:

  • You will be issued a token
  • Your photograph will be captured
  • Your fingerprints and signature will be taken
  • Your required data entry will be done and form will be printed to be reviewed by yourself
  • You will be handed over a printed version of your application form.

Once the form is printed and given to you, please submit the form to the concerned NRC after you have got it attested either by a blood relative (father/mother/brother/sister/daughter/son) or any gazetted officer.

How long will it take from application completion to delivery?

There are three means in which a card can be delivered.

  • Normal – 31 days
  • Urgent – 23 days
  • Fast Track – 9 Days (Queue priority at NRCs for immediate processing)

Please note that the processing time of your application starts after submission of your attested form.

What is the “DUP” status?

A citizen marked “DUP” in the NADRA database due to having duplicates of the identity card has been issued, and the individual needs to apply for DUP clearance to rectify the situation and retain the correct and valid identity card.
