NADRA Registers Over 80 pc of Women

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), has registered over 80 per cent of women in the country which will also be helpful in enhancing of female voter list.

The total number of women included in The National Database at percent is 39.10 million. Out of these, 5.16 million are in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 560,652 in Fata, 21.68 million in Punjab, 8.51 million in Sindh, 1.42 million in Baluchistan, 384,513 in Islamabad capital territory, 266,220 in Giglit-Biltistan and 1.10 million in Azad Kashmir.

Deputy Chairman NADRA Tariq Malik in a statement on Friday said they were working to increase female registration across the country, particularly in far-flung and remote areas through its women mobile registration vans.

He said that on Friday NADRA centers throughout country had been reserved only for women, whereas in additional to the addition to 400 other offices 11 women-only NADRA centers with female only staff have also been facilitating women in acquiring (CNICs).

‘‘We are also reaching out to NGOs to help facilitate women in obtaining the CNICs and achieve 100 per cent registration of womenfolk across the country’’, added Mr Malik.

He highlighted the role of NGOs in raising public awareness and said a UN Women will support NADRA by providing technical advice about gender equality and empowerment of women.

The UN role is especially helpful in Pishin, Qilla Saifullah, Lasbela, Zhob and Gawadar,he added.

While Aurat Foundation will help NADRA in running public awareness programs especially in far flung areas to encourage women folks who did not register themselves in national database

Women registration by 116 percent while NADRA has already registered 96% percent of adult population of the country by issuing 90.06 million CNICs including 39.1 million to women.
