The National Database & Registration Authority, NADRA issued computerized national identity cards to eunuchs as per the instructions of Supreme Court.The NADRA spokesman in a statement issued here on Monday said that the NADRA center across the country are already serving eunuchs for registration. Their registration is carried out without any medical proof on their given particulars and details at the time of registration, he added. He said that as per Supreme Court’s instructions the third genders can have male transgender, female transgender or “Khunsa-e- mushkil” written on their ID card as per their own will.

He said NADRA is already issuing computerized national identity cards, CNICs to third genders and instructions have been sent to all NADRA offices to facilitate eunuchs for the registration in the light of Supreme Court’s instructions.He mentioned all registered eunuchs will be eligible to cast vote as citizens of Pakistan in general election and their names are added in electoral rolls.He said NADRA being guardian of national database ensures registration of all citizens irrespective of their caste or creed.

NADRA is the first organization in Pakistan which is providing job opportunities to the third gender at its regional offices in order to engage them as productive citizens of the society. The spokesman said eunuchs working in NADRA are not only an example for other organizations but also help in registration of other eunuchs.He said after the registration of third gender as eunuchs their rights are more protected and it will pave the way for more job opportunities to them in government and private sector.
